Cause of Mold Growth
But what causes mold growth?
When there is moisture, the spores can germinate and start to grow. The newly formed fungal colony expands from this point and will continue to grow on the surface if moisture and nourishment is present. Mold can grow even at cold temperatures, for example in the refrigerator, or with low levels of nutrients, for example on glass or metal, however, there MUST be moisture present for mold to grow.
