TO ANALYZE SAMPLES USING MYCOMETER ASSAYS, YOU WILL NEED:

1. The Test Kit: The equipment required for all Mycometer assays.
2. Test Assays: Specific test chemistry for analysis.
3. Proficiency Training: A mandatory certification earned by completing one or more courses and passing an exam.

THE TEST KIT

A waterproof case containing a handheld fluorometer for reading results, 2 pipettes (100µl and 1000µl), three rags a digital thermometer, a timer and a black cuvette (for calibration).

The Fluorometer

The fluorometer is an accurate and robust instrument that runs on 4 triple A batteries.

A calibration procedure (<1 minute) is performed before use. Use a black cuvette and a fluorescence standard.

THE TEST ASSAYS

There are 5 different tests that can be run with the test kit.

Quantify:
Mold on surfaces – Mycometer surface Fungi
Bacteria on surfaces – Mycometer surface Bacteria
Mold in air – Mycometer air Fungi
Total allergens in air – Mycometer air Allergen
Mold source/exposure – Mycometer air FAI*

*FAI is Fungal to Allergen Index. Measure the relative level of fungi compared to total allergens.

PROFICIENCY COURCES

Courses and certification

We currently offer three courses designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of technology, sampling, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results. A proficiency exam (minimum 80% correct answers) must be passed to receive your certification number.

  • Mould on Surfaces: Learn to use the Mycometer Surface Fungi method (4–5 hours).
  • Bacteria on Surfaces: Learn to use the Mycometer Surface Bacteria method (1.5–2 hours).
  • Mould in Air: Learn sampling and analysis for methods such as Mycometer Air Fungi, Mycometer Air Allergens, and Mycometer Air FAI (4–5 hours).

Course inclusions and options

Included Course: One course is included (typically Mould on Surfaces) when you purchase the Test Kit. The Air Sampling course is included with the Mycometer Air Start Package.

  • Location Options:
    • Courses are conducted at our headquarters in Denmark.
    • Courses can be held on English, German, Norwegian, Icelandic or Danish.
    • Online courses are available by agreement.
    • On-site training is also possible, though travel and accommodation costs may apply.
