WHAT MOLD (MOULD) TESTING EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED FOR MYCOMETER ASSAYS?

To perform accurate sample analysis with Mycometer assays, you’ll need specialized mold testing equipment (sometimes spelled mould testing equipment in the UK). This kit includes all the essential tools—such as the fluorometer, pipettes, reagents, and accessories—designed to ensure reliable results when testing surfaces or air for mold.

1. The Test Kit: The essential mold (mould) testing equipment required for carrying out all Mycometer assays, providing you with the tools needed for accurate analysis.
2. Test Assays: Specialized chemistry used alongside your mold testing equipment to deliver precise results across different sample types.
3. Proficiency Training: Mandatory certification that ensures you can confidently operate Mycometer’s mold testing equipment by completing training courses and passing an exam.

THE TEST KIT

Suitcase with Mycometer mold (mould) testing equipment.

The Mycometer mold testing equipment kit comes in a waterproof case containing a handheld fluorometer for reading results, two pipettes (100µl and 1000µl), three rags, a digital thermometer, a timer, and a black cuvette for calibration. Each component is designed for durability and accurate testing in real-world environments.

The Fluorometer

The fluorometer is the core instrument in our mold testing equipment. It is a robust, battery-powered device (4 AAA batteries) that delivers reliable readings in the field. A quick calibration (<1 minute) is performed before use with the included black cuvette and fluorescence standard, ensuring accuracy every time.

THE TEST ASSAYS

Mycometer mold (mould) testing equipment test assays for analyzing surfaces, air samples, and allergen.

With the Mycometer mold testing equipment kit, you can run 5 different tests:

Quantify:
Mold on surfaces – Mycometer surface Fungi
Bacteria on surfaces – Mycometer surface Bacteria
Mold in air – Mycometer air Fungi
Total allergens in air – Mycometer air Allergen
Mold source/exposure – Mycometer air FAI*

*FAI is Fungal to Allergen Index. Measure the relative level of fungi compared to total allergens.

PROFICIENCY COURCES

Mold Testing Certification Training Courses

To ensure accurate and reliable results, Mycometer offers mold testing certification through a series of professional training courses. These programs provide comprehensive knowledge of technology, sampling, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.

Participants must complete a proficiency exam (minimum 80% correct answers) to earn their official mold testing certificate.

Available Certification Courses

  • Mold on Surfaces – Learn to use the Mycometer Surface Fungi method (4–5 hours).
  • Bacteria on Surfaces – Learn the Mycometer Surface Bacteria method (1.5–2 hours).
  • Mold in Air – Training on Mycometer Air Fungi, Air Allergen, and Air FAI methods (4–5 hours).

Course Inclusions Options

  • Included Training – One course (typically Mold on Surfaces) is included when you purchase the Mycometer mold testing equipment kit.
  • Air Sampling Course – Included with the Mycometer Air Start Package.
  • Flexible Locations – Certification courses can be completed at our Denmark headquarters, online by agreement, or onsite (travel costs may apply).
  • Languages Offered – Training available in English, German, Norwegian, Icelandic, or Danish.
